The Lighthouse is perched 370 feet above the waves on one of the knuckles of the fist of carboniferous limestone called Great Ormes Head. Guests are disturbed only by the cries of seagulls and the distant sounds of crashing waves below, yet the elegant seaside town of Llandudno is a mere five minutes away.
Constructed like a fortress by the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company, the beacon is built almost as an afterthought in front of, rather than on top of, the building. Inside the feeling of a fortress is reinforced, with a stout pitch pine entrance hall and everywhere long views to distant watery horizons. Nothing stands between you and the setting sun. The view is the same for all, but you can choose your room according to its original use:- Telegraph, Lamp or Principal Keeper's Suites.
If the sun has set, perhaps you can rekindle the light on Great Ormes Head!
