Feeling stressed? Life going a little too fast? Well slow down now before you get switched off completely, and spend a few days contemplating what life has in store. This has to be the perfect place to relax and think about your own mortality!
The Chapel is tucked away in a peacefully slumbering graveyard full of evocative memorials to a time when life didn't end with you going up in smoke! Built in 1812, in the former lead and limestone mining community of Wirksworth, it has an ornate Victorian gothic style exterior in a mixture of mellow red sandstone and rubble stone, characteristic of this part of the PEAK DISTRICT. The building is not at all dour - in fact it's exceedingly pretty - with a hefty lancet door, latticed cast iron windows and delicate touches of pale stained glass which throw a rosy glow onto the antique wooden bed!
This is the place to come for a lazy, laid back weekend - complimentary fruit, chocolates, a glass of wine and relaxing views across the cemetery to BLACK ROCK - so relaxed you could almost be dead!
